Happy Easter for the entire steemit community! On this special day I want to continue my journey through the sacred music of the world in homage to this week of the year. Today I want to share with you one of the most beautiful, glorious and exceptional works that I have been able to hear and sing in the company of a symphony orchestra. This is the Funeral Mass of the Italian Giuseppe Verdi, but since today is a day of celebration, I just want to introduce you the Sanctus.
Verdi's Requiem is one of the most important works of all time, even those of us who have had the opportunity to participate in this montage can appreciate that it does not look like the requiem that is normally heard, like Mozart's. Rather, it is a work so impressive that more than a choral symphony, we could get to compare it with an opera.
Undoubtedly the whole composition has a very heavy and funereal atmosphere, a masterpiece, but in the middle of Mass, you can hear the imposing and at the same time sublime notes of the Sanctus; moment that does not look like anything at all the musical development that has been running so far.
In the Sanctus, Verdi knew how to transmit the energy of joy that is felt when the people shout Hosana...
Sanctus | Agnus Dei | Verdi's Requiem
In this video we can appreciate the most popular version of Verdi's Requiem, and it was carried out in 1967 with the Orchestra and the Choir of La Scala Theater in the city of Milan, Italy. It was under the direction of Karajan. Particularly in the video the following number of the Mass is also appreciated, that is the Agnus Dei, and presents as soloists the Soprano Leontyne Price and the Mezzo Fiorenza Cossotto.
I hope this post has been liked by all, and I remind you that I will continue to share sacred music classics during this Easter season. Thanks to all the readers and to all of you who offer your support. I'm waiting for you here tomorrow, God bless you!
