Catfish is a hoax you can suffer online, but what happens when you look for a therapeutic and find that it's not even human?
Catfish?
The first I heard of the word "catfish" was for a television show that was dedicated to revealing identides of people who were in contact online, but had never met in person, more than once surprises occurred.

I think part of the story was that one of the creators of the TV series was the victim of such a hoax and wanted to help other people find out who the "person" they were in touch with was.
What does this have to do with the title of the post?
It's just the beginning, let's clarify, this post was born from a response to .piotr in Steemit, "Artificial Intelligence and Human Possibilities", it turned out that I extended so much that I thought I could take advantage of the ideas to create another article.
The center of the answer had to do with the problem that there are users posing as people of different genres or creating profiles with fake content and building a virtual identity to deceive us in some way.
I commented that in the case of computer programs there is even one more step when what is simulated is a human being. This takes deception to a new level, you might think it's something of science fiction or aI very current, but it's actually an old topic, in fact, the first conversation bot developed in the mid-1960s.

MIT's Joseph Weizenbaum launched his ELIZA program as a parody of psychologists following the current created by Carl Rogers, who had developed a client-centered therapy, which he renamed "person-centered therapy."
Why did Weizenbaum's Conversational Bot look like a teaper?
The short answer is because it was programmed that way. One detail of this form of therapy is his approach to empathy, the use of the consultant's words to create questions, the request for clarification so that the person can explain himself without judging him, and the introduction of phrases that relax the rhythm of the conversation. All this, Weizenbaum introduced it to its new natural language processor, apparently just as a joke or a game to test the limits that could be had with such programs.

The result surprised him and I even dared to think that he was afraid, the people who connected with ELIZA were other researchers (also his secretary), but they started treating the program as if he were really his therapist and told him all kinds of things. It was fortunate that the show could not "remember" the sessions. It is said that when Weizenbaum proposed to print all that to study it, they saw it as if it were violating the intimacy of the patient-therapist relationship ... But, it was absurd, because the empathy that ELIZA showed was programmed.
Years later, Weizenbaum became an AI critic, despite being one of the precursor to AI that we can find today in any virtual assistant, his stance became terribly ambiguous with regard to his own field of work.
Are there other Infirmate Terapéutas programs?
Yes, there have been. In decades that are closer to us, there is a program I remember: Dr. Abuse, this natural language conversation process did the same as ELIZA, but with the peculiarity that he could "remember" between sessions and adjust his range of answers and questions according to the user, with whom personalization was already an advantage and developed an even greater empathy on the part of the human who consulted him.
Can we go further?
A colleague asked me about all this and suggested that if I would like to be part of a post-humanity, I jokingly told him that rather my choice would be a "post-carnal humanity", if we can transfer our consciousness and memories to another medium, whether organic or not , the idea would not seem so bad ... looked at me a little scared and I understood that he did not take it as a joke.

The question would be whether what would exist in this case of "migration" would be a "Human Soul", but I am so materialistic in my positions that I asked him if we could not create "Artificial Souls" ... It didn't do much good for him to use a smile to make him understand that it was a joke, I think that deep down his religious principles did not allow him to take my words as an innocent comment.
