Steem Saturday and Beer!!
Steem Saturday finally arrived!! and I started at first light on our short journey to the Steem Saturday venue. When we arrived only Natalie du Toit was there already. She was one of the speakers, giving an inspirational talk as well as speaking on Sportspodium. This well known Olympic swimmer is a great ambassador for the new Sportspodium. If you would like to read more on this amazing swimmer and sports woman follow the Link. Below is a selfie of
, Natalie, and I.
We were welcomed with a great breakfast and coffee!!
Below you can see some off the early arrivers mingling over the breakfast and coffee tables. It was a gorgeous Spring morning and every body was exited to put faces to the usernames. It was great meting all the steemians, making up teamsouthafrica!!
Below you can see the venue and some of the audience. I am not going to write on all the speeches, I am sure and some of the other organizers will cover this in detail.
After being kept captive from the early morning to the afternoon, by all the great speakers we could finally take this long walk to lunch!! The buffet promised to give us a huge freedom of choice, this is what I was waiting for!! Nice lunch and some more mingling with steemians!!
Below you can see the lunch venue, it has great atmosphere!!
Below you can see some of the salads, off cause, I walked straight past it heading for the meat dishes.
Below you can see staring in awe at the dishes, so many choices and only one small plate to fill. (Almost like a block chain, can only fit so much data in one block)
Below is some roast and potatoes.
Some more pots with meat.
There was also a choice of game meats.
And then my favorite, dessert!! Nice!!
Finally it was time for the well deserved beer, all this eating made me thirsty, very thirsty. I thus decided to go for a draft beer, in a 500ml glass, and my choice fell on the Soweto Gold Premium Lager. The name alone is a mouth full, I hope it would live up to the expectation created!!
Below you can see the beer poured into the glass, it has a good dark amber color, and a nice white foam head.
Below is the fluffy foam head, looks nice.
It has a great glow to it when taken against the natural sun light.
I hurried back to my table to test this beer, and it was great. It went down very well and it is a real satisfying beer to drink.
This was the second annual SteemSaturday in South Africa and we had a great time meeting old friends and making some new ones, or meeting ones we have been talking to over steemit, but never met before. We had a great time.
I would like to thank the organizers and sponsors for a great day. All this was entirely free of charge, who said there is no such thing as a free lunch???
All the photos were taken by me, using my iPhone.
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
