I’ve seen some tiny coins while stacking, but this ¼ ounce lunar dragon from Somaliland is something else. On top of that it has a clicheé design, but oh well. Let's take a closer look at it.

Lunar coins are very popular with mints, so popular that even Somaliland decided to do a series on them. In my opinion most mints just hop onto the Lunar train because it sells. I think this dragon might be one of them. The design looks like the most chinese dragon I’ve seen in awhile. Not sure why they couldn’t add their twist to the design, but that’s how this coin ended up.

No suprises on the back either, it shows the coat of arms of Somaliland. The dove of peace in between two laurel branches and underneath a scale. At the bottom two hands are shaking. The whole design is crowned by “Republic of Somaliland” in english and arabic. Conclusion
It’s not the most original piece, but with a weight of just ¼ ounce of silver one of the oddballs in my stack. What do you think about this Somaliland lunar dragon?original size
Elly is very proud to take care of this little foreign visitor. She’s excited to show him around on her shoulder.
