hiya wonderful ssg friends
so recently I invested in some bronze..... you can imagine a deep sigh at this point..... I figured yay bronze it's cheaper I can make bigger stuff, make mistakes not cry about it cos of the price
I was wrong, I admit to a steep learning curve and this one is my own fault. I discovered that you need a higher temperature and a longer firing time and so I kinda ruined my bronze work, oh well.
I also just didn't like the colour, again my fault I have since done more learning/watching/reading stuff and turns out I didn't follow correct procedure for that whole oxidation thing, ended up scrubbing and polishing and then when I worked out I hadn't fired it properly to begin with, I gave up at that point, decided the universe is obviously telling me silver is the only way to go for me.
On the silver front I had kept one last piece for finishing purposes and it worked as a science experiment for my youngest, it was fun being able to include my adventures as part of the homeschooling thing and my daughter enjoyed it too.
First we tried sulphuring using the egg method, and it was ok, worked a bit, but I wasn't keen on the colour, so then we tried the bleach method, that worked a lot better and we kept that finish.
it's a tiny rabbit from Alice in Wonderland
I did take a video of the bronze but decided not to upload it as I am so unhappy with the results, I am really looking forward to getting some more silver and making real shiny stuff again.
many thanks to the wonderful ssg community my full respect to you all
