Welcome to part 2 of my "focus on" silver. Here we are looking at some silver coins from The Netherlands.
First up is my mini stack of 2 1/2 Guldens.
Between 1959 - 1966:
Minted in .720 silver
Size - 33mm
Weight - 15g
They feature Queen Juliana who was the monarch from 1948 - 1980 before she abdicated. (Dutch monarchs appear to love to abdicate)
I do like these coins, decent weight and silver content and can be picked up cheap!
Prior to 1959 these coins were larger at 38mm and 25g with the same .720 silver content. These featured Queen Wilhelmina. The pictures below is a 1938 example.
The final coin in my Dutch collection apart from some one Guldens is a commemorative coin from 1970. This celebrates the 25th anniversary of the liberation following the 2nd world war. This 10 Gulden coin features Queen Juliana and Queen Wilhelmina on either side. Again it is .720 silver, 38mm and 25g.
Comments are always welcome. Part 3 coming soon.
