Even if you're rich you're poor right now in Puerto Rico.
It's been 3 weeks since they were slammed by two tropical storms. 85% of residents are still without power. Some experts say it could be 3 months until their infrastructure is fixed.
ATMs and debit machines are down leaving many residents without access to cash. Bitcoin is worthless right now aswell. There were warnings prior to the hurricanes but many weren't prepared for this level of destruction.
Gold and Silver dealers are setting up shops around the nation and business is booming. Many people are trading their gold and silver for cash or bartering for items they need to survive.
Some shops are even putting priority on gold and silver over cold hard cash. People are trading their jewelry for food, clothes, gas and medical supplies.
3.7 million Puerto Rican's are without power, for a nation directly linked to America and even sharing it's Dollar, right now it's like something out of a apocalyptic movie.
It's another reminder that no matter how technologically advanced we become as a species were still at the mercy of mother nature.
Since the dawn of man gold has and will always have value, sometimes even large cash reserves can't buy you the items you may need in a disaster. Gold and Silver are recognized, sought after and easily exchangeable on ever corner of the globe.
The crisis in Puerto Rico is another wake up call to the importance of having a little precious metals at your disposal.
Venezuela is still not back to normal.
Cash is worthless there. People have been eating their pets for food it's that bad yet one single oz of silver could buy you 6 weeks of groceries or a house with some land.
I just read a story 2 days ago on Reuters that family's are sifting through sewage runoffs in the hopes of finding jewelry that may have been accidentally washed down the drains.
This is actually happening on this planet right now!
Naysayers scoff at the importance of gold and silver but anytime a disaster occurs I read countless stories of precious metals saving people's lives!
Mother nature is unpredictable, you could wake up to a completely different world then when you went to bed. Threats such as a massive hacking or an emp blast can change your world, why not be prepared?
People buy food, medical supplies, batteries and flashlights and you should also throw a bit of silver into your preparations aswell. It's easily obtainable and affordable.
I'm not a doomsdayer I'm a realest. We're far too comfortable with leaving everything to chance and trusting we'll always have internet and power. You can't predict nature as we've seen time and time again and even having large cash reserves sometimes falls to the power of shiny metals.
Some will say "oh well in a disaster guns and bullets are the most important" but are you really going to resort to killing people to get food or clean water?
Looting is not really prevalent in Puerto Rico right now, people haven't been pushed to that desperation level but the ones that have silver and gold are atleast able to rationally barter for things they need.
Precious metals like gold and silver have been valued forever and always will be and they're showing their power in Puerto Rico right now.
