Since poured silver is all the rage recently I think it's time to bust open the display case and show of a few of my favorites.
I don't have any of the really impressive full 3d pours, but that will change soon, I've been chatting with a few of the mafia boys ands girls and will be rectifying that soon.
I'm also going to take my time and give each a proper showcase so for today, I'm going to show off my very first peice of poured silver ever!
This thing!
I still remember the day, it was my first day looking around YouTube and trying to figure out who was the silver people there and how it all worked, we were just staring Pheli Mint and it was part of our plan to also start a YouTube channel.
Well CanadianSilverSaver was the very first channel and person I found there and he was selling this thing. It was poured by John Masterson from Beaver Bullion and both the guys have since become great friends to Eli and I.
It's just a chunk of silver poured into water. I now understand that often guys poured the molten silver into cold or ice water to make shot or tiny peices or grains that can be further weighted out so you can pour peices in whatever ounce count your planning, but if the water isn't cold enough and you pour a lot you get a glob like this.
It really takes a cool shape with a lot of detail and depth, it looks so wild and natural. This one used to be much more wild, but I fortunately it's been at my bedside for over a year now and that means it had a few run ins with the kids or few accidents when's it's been knocked off its shelf. It used to have a bit of a tunnel and freestanding arch that kinda formed a heart, but alas it's kinda more just a chunk now.
If you do want to see it in its former glory, here's a post about it from like 5 months ago and a link to the unboxing video.
Despite kind of mutalating it, time has also given it more character with the toning it is getting. It's started to take on some really rich gold and blueish tones in a lot of the deeper areas. I find it really brings out details more and makes it easier to see the deep features.
Anyways if you like it, I'm sure you could ask your favorite metals mafia boy or gal, to drop some silver in some water for you! It's a great little curiosity or pieces to just stare into and get lost in when your in the need for some day dreaming!
Ps what's the rules about using the cool metals mafia banner? I mentioned you at the end does that count ;).
