You may have figured out by now I'm more of a collector and a sucker for the more fancy and unique silver rounds and coins.
Well I used to be way more of a sucker and spend a lot of money at the Royal Canadian Mint. Don't get me wrong I do like the peices but I had way too many of them. Eventually I found my way more to bullion and the semi-numismatic niche.
These are two of there maple leaf shaped coins, the first was issued in a red maple leaf holder that really makes it pop.
I like the design with the veins from the leaf replicated on the reverse and the obverse.
They have a face value of $20 and are only 1oz of silver, they had a release price of $149.95 of my memory serves me right.
I also bought the second release although I'm not as impressed.
It comes in a dark stained display case and has an enamel coating.
I'm a big fan of enameled coins, but I prefer when it's added to the struck surface and it still maintains some textures. When it's just the only thing on a flat surface I'm also a little disappointed.
I very rarely by anything from the RCM anymore but this are cool relics from my earlier collecting days.
