A new addition to the stack arrived today, the Royal dutch lion is a restrike and celebrates 400 year aniversary of a famous 1617 coin. It has a lion on one side and a knight on the other and has the words CONFIDENS. DNO. NON. MOVETVR, which translates as “Who trusts in the Lord is not moved”
This is the BU version which has a very nice mintage of 25,000, there is a proof version with a 5,000 mintage but to be honest i like the quality of this strike and it is almost prooflike, i felt paying 3x more for a 5k minted proof to be a bad decision against this lower cost version and with just 25k the mintage is low enough to give some good future prospects on appreciation.
One thing i love about stacking silver coins is learning something new, i know very little about the original coin, its origins and the like and i was just reading up a few things while making this post, im not interested in copying and pasting a load of bumf with dates and facts but i will be reading up and learning something about it for my own interests, i think this coin is something quite special.
