Well it’s day number six without power, with an additional four inches of snow that fell today. There are several trucks in my area today working. I stopped and talked to one the workers. There are three things that need to be fixed for the power to come back on. The first is a transformer that blew on the main road which is now fixed, and two down lines, they are working on one but the other still remains. I posted a picture of it at the bottom of this post. With any luck I’ll have power shortly....🙏
What i have for you today ladies and gentlemen is yet another Morgan Silver dollar from my collection. Today i bring to you an 1897 Philadelphia strike graded by PCGS as an MS64. I actually think that this is an undergrads personally. Look at how clean the obverse is. No bag marks or scruffs, shear perfection to me. Well enough on that.
Here’s some information on this coin. In 1897 the Philadelphia Mint has the lowest mintage out of the three mints. New Orleans mintage was just over 4,000,000 coins. San Fransisco’s mintage was nearly 6,000,000 coins. And the Philadelphia mintage was 2,822,731.
This is by no means a key date of the series, but is a borderline semi key date. The value of this coin is in the high $200 range now.
