I am going to take some time today to talk about someone here on the steem blockchain that I admire for many reasons and in spite of the fact that he posts many selfies, like this one.
Oops, that's not him, is it? I meant like this one.
Not right now Welshie, but thanks for the offer.
OK, OK, jokes aside the shining example of a kick-ass Steemian I speak of is the one and only . If you've run into this guy on the blockchain AT ALL it is likely you have experienced his generosity, kindness or quick wit and know what I'm talking about.
My first memory of is over two years ago and a series of posts he was doing where he was trying to spend a silver bullion coin, a Royal Mint Silver Brittania, in a store. There were about 8 posts in the series and in each one he would try to buy a small item worth much less than the value of the Brittania. Here is episode 6 if you want to check it out. Shortly after that, I was able to get in on the secret silver Santa that he had organized
From then on I would say he is the most consistent AND prolific blogger I follow. And it's not garbage posting either. I mean from Actifit (half-marathon training that does not usually go well) to Steem Monsters (I still don't get it :/) to garden updates, I really don't know how this guy has time to DO all this stuff, much less write posts about it.
Me trying to write about something
Take, for instance, the current Rugby World Cup that is happening in Japan. Well, it would appear that is a big-time rugby fan so he decides to hold sweepstakes around the tournament. He sold spots to create a prize pool & drew teams at random and now there are 16 steemians interested in rugby all of the sudden (well at least that last bit describes me). Now you might think it would stop there and we would all just follow the tourney on our own to see if we win. Nope. He has created a little "guess the score" side contest that he posts about as well as posting a series of in depth posts about each team in the World Cup. I have to say, even though the games happen overnight for me I am enjoying following along with the RWC thanks to Welsie.
In addition to this flurry of rugby posts, there are other regular posts as well, #menemonday comes to mind. Oh and he also runs a bank, posts about his family and is having a second child (well, standing by while Mrs. Welshstacker does the work)!
Now, if I were to stop there you might say to yourself, "Huh, that sounds like a fine bloke". But I am not done yet. There is one more thing this guy does on the steem blockchain that seems like an actual job and that is as a moderator and behind the scenes tech for the #steemsilvergold community. As far as organized communities go here on steem SSG is a big one for me. And though our numbers have dwindled as folks leave steem, at the height of steem's popularity there were over 100 active members! In my opinion, a big part of the reason we are together as a community is the behind the scenes folks that help keep us together through the
account. There are others behind the scenes and I am not downplaying their contributions I am just talking today about the author of boringpostwednesday and the tech that keeps the community bot running,
.
Well, there are other things I could write here about this fine gentleman but I am afraid my fingers are worn down to nubs and my brain is actually smoking. If by some crazy circumstance you don't follow I would suggest righting that wrong right now, I just know there will be something like this right around the corner.
I said NO Welshie! I don't even have time for one, sorry.
