The Cook Islands were discovered by legendary British explorer Captain James Cook and the island still bear his name up till today. It is made up of 15 individual volcanic islands as well as coral atolls spread throughout an incredible 770,00 square miles of the South Pacific Ocean between Fiji and French Polynesia.

This is bullion coin but nobody know the actual mintage so there is abit of premium for this coin and it is not common to even see it selling on ebay. 2009 is the first year of the mintage for this coin and I manage to get my hand on some of these from my bullion dealer when it was out. 😊
The ship depicted on the coin is the HMS "Bounty" led by the infamous Captain William Bligh and not by Captain Cook.
