Father's Day
It's a little late in this year and a little early for next year to be posting about Father's Day, but I'll do it anyways. Fathers are largely missing in society today. There are still some great ones out there, but there are many guys who are AWOL when it comes to spending time with their kids and teaching them how to live. So this post is to honor those who are around.
I've been posting about the generic rounds and bars that I've been picking up from the LCS. This one is no different. There's such a huge variety of things you can find, and at rock bottom prices, you can't beat these deals... unless you go to Ray's Coin Store.
Most of the time I know very quickly which coins are coming home with me. Some are the "same old, same old" but others just pop... or in this case, Pops.
Here's to you, Dad!
They didn't get the year right, but close enough. As long as it's within 50 years it counts.
There's nothing on the back, but thought you might want to see it anyways. Maybe it was reserved so people could have custom engravings or stamping done to personalize the bar.
I like that whoever made it chose an owl to represent Fathers as owls are supposed to be old and wise. There are a lot of things we can learn from others who have gone through experiences that we haven't, so I resonate with the idea of getting wisdom from them.
The challenge now becomes to show appreciation to the Fathers in our lives, wherever they are, and even though it isn't Father's Day. They don't have to be blood-related, they could be someone who has taken a lot of time and energy to help us along our journey. Whoever they are, might I suggest taking a little time to show them how much you appreciate them today?
