I think I was getting burned out on stacking silver. I've been collecting it for a decent amount of time and it got boring. Oh look, another Eagle that looks the same as the rest of them. Same with Maples, Philharmonics and the bunch. With all the hand poured stuff coming out it was starting to get interesting again....then I found Gold. Goldmember Meme
The other day I picked up my first gold piece, a 1855 20 Franks. I got such a good deal I had to go back for another. Welcome the 1867 20 Francs to my collection. I think this one looks better than the first one. This coin has a mintage of 2,923,000 making one of the lower mintage years. Here she is in all her beauty.
With my stackitis in full swing I couldn't leave with just this piece. Sitting not to far from these Francs was a small fractional piece giving me the stink eye. After a small negotiation it was added to my order as well. This coin has a mintage of only 20,000 pieces and is .999 Gold. It is a George Washington $25 coin Made in Germany for the country of Liberia. It came with a spec sheet and nice story of ole George. I need to buy one of those magnifiers for my phone, this one is tiny.
But it wasn't enough. I still had some garbage Fiat in my pocket. With not much to choose from I headed to the gram bar section. It was either these little guys or beer (I ended up getting both but who's counting). I grabbed a Hippo, Liberty Bell, 38 Revolver and I think an A-10 Warthog.
I'm hoping this score will help keep the stackitis at bay until my next shipment arrives. Got some cool stuff on the way that I'll be showing you in the coming days. Hope you enjoyed and have a great weekend!
