The Philadelphia 76ers are back! They are now occupying the third seed in the east and yet, they are still improving. The Sixers recently matched a franchise record of 14 straight victories, and this is the first season that they have reached the 50 wins accolade since the 2000-2001 season. Before the season began, Coach Brett Brown told the media that their main goal was to reach the playoffs, and they did it without any hesitations. In my opinion, I think the Sixers can beat any team in the playoffs if Joel Embiid is available to play. The front office did a great job of building up and developing the guys that they like and getting rid of the players that weren’t good enough. They also added few veterans that post great numbers, and they have some of the very best draft picks in the league.
The Philadelphia 76ers haven't always been known as a mediocre team, although they has been known to be in the recent years. Back in the years of Allen Iverson, “Dr. J” Julius Erving, and Wilt Chamberlain, the Sixers were one of the top-notch teams and dominated the league. The only time the Sixers won 14 straight in a single season was when Dr. J delivered the last NBA title for the Sixers in 1983. This past decade, we’ve seen the once proud franchise ruin their reputation in consecutive poorly played seasons. They were even the worst team in the NBA for a while, but if they would've played a little better ball during their slump, they may have not drafted the young stars they possess now in Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, and Markelle Fultz.
Philadelphia also boasts a few valuable players backing up the young stars like the veteran shooter JJ Redick, Robert Covington, Dario Saric, and TJ McConnell. The Processhas finally worked as the Sixers are beginning a new era of winning basketball. The Sixers are back and they are set to be an elite team for a long time. They have long "Trusted the Process", and they are now living it up with rewards.
