The New York Knicks traveled north of the border to Toronto to take on the Raptors on Thursday night. In the wake of the Cleveland Cavaliers shipping half of their roster to other teams, the Raptors looked to take advantage of the potential lack of chemistry by the defending Eastern Conference champions. The Knicks looked to find a new offense now that their leader, Kristops Porzingis, is out for the season after tearing his ACL.
The first quarter started relatively balance, with neither team building more than a five point lead on their opponent. The Raptors led 23-18 going into the second quarter. Valanciunas sparked the Raptors with eleven points in the frame to give Toronto a double-digit lead heading into halftime 52-41. With two minutes left in the third quarter and the Raptors up ten, Toronto went on an 11-5 run to extend their lead to sixteen after three three-pointers to end the quarter.
Toronto looked to finish off the Knicks midway through the final quarter, sparking a 25-9 run, building their lead to 31 and running away with the victory, 113-88.
The Raptors balanced their scoring attack across seven players in double-digit scoring, led by Jonas Valanciunas‘s 18 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Beasley led the Knicks with 21 points in the loss.
