SteemSquad
Is a community backed group responsible for up-voting quality blogs of it’s members. We are the initiative of multiple minnows whose objective is to promote quality work of people who may not get a chance to get noticed in the mainstream otherwise.
For quite some time, there has been a noticeable trend as to who gets rewards. Those favoured are the whales themselves, members with high reputation levels and incoming popular personalities.
And what happens to those who are not celebrities, unknown personalities from not-so-popular backgrounds? Their posts get dumped, thrown into oblivion. This is where SteemSquad comes into play. Read more on wealth inequality on steemit
How SteemSquad works
At the moment SteemSquad currently stands as a voting pool for its members who post quality content. This means the blogs are well written & presented, contain at least 300 words, mostly orginal, includes pictures and referenced sources.
People who join SteemSquad Chat, vote on regularly basis on the topic tagged #steemsquad page, participate in chat and follow
are considered members.
We all use for this as our main viewing page for when we login onto steemit for the day. Click #steemsquad to bring up the tagged voting page and add this page to your bookmarks.
The curation program
It wont be too long now before you can start follow SteemSquad’s curation trial. This will link your account to the user account which will automatically vote for you while you're sleeping or away from your computer. The software is still in beta testing and it is not ready for us to recommend that you use it yet, we will update you when it’s running smoothly with minimum issues.
Curation Goals
SteemSquad user account will be utilising 3 strategies for its curation process.
- Up-voting only the very best of SteemSquad tagged content.
- Following the
curation trial which supports a vast variety of new authors. read more here
- Going after the profits, we will try to beat the whales before they get a chance to vote on good content therefore gaining maximum curation SP for each vote.
Featured author's
The user account will also be a publisher for small profiled clients (low reputations) who post top quality content. SteemSquad members will promote the %#@! out of you until you are big enough to stand on your own two feet in the steemit community or have sufficient followers to support you.
The author of the content will receive 100% of SBD after payout and the remainder of the steem power will remain in the account as a donation fee to help serve other minnows in the near future.
This is just one aspect of SteemSquad that we will be working towards in the future as we hope to build the reputation of the account first along with increasing number of members that support the featured author's.
Community
The SteemSquad project is not just a pool of minnows who vote-up good content, we are more importantly a community of friends working together to help each other out. Steemsquad members have contacts with a number of dolphins, app developers and other high rep profiled users which also offer support to our group.
“Don’t just rock up in the chat channel and start spamming your links expecting to get up-voted, get to know the people there, introduce yourself, offer help and welcome others. If you put nothing into it expect nothing out of it...Its that simple.”
How it started
SteemSquad was founded by a mini-whale which has a reputation of up-voting many low profiled minnows on their blogs and comments. He believes by working together for the benefit of the community all the members of SteemSquad will benefit as a side effect. The more we help others the more we get back in return.
Account Management
Steemsquad is a new development which is managed by a handful of volunteers, we all have jobs and we all post our own material, we are pretty much stretched to the limit in terms of the amount of free time we have to dedicate to the group which is why we need your help.
A group of 5 of us hold the keys to the account and moderate the chat rooms. Regarding the future of steem power for the user account we have determined it will stay into the account until it reaches at least 10,000 SP and at that point we will vote and decide if it’s time to ‘power down’ the account or not.
One thing is certain though, SteemSquad is a ‘NOT FOR PROFIT’ group. Our main idea at the moment with powering down is to give 50% to a “featured minnow author of the week” and the other 50% to a charity of their choosing.
