If I may add to your list, just a few weeks ago, the last male northern white rhino, Sudan, was euthanized because of old age complications in Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya.

With his death, hopes of keeping the species alive plunged. The idea is to use conserved northern white rhino sperm and eggs harvested from the two aging females Sudan left behind, and insert the embryo in a female southern white rhino. This would be necessary because tests have shown that neither of the northern white females can carry a pregnancy.

This is an expensive procedure and one that has never been done on a rhino before. It also looks like it may not happen because the amount of money needed has not yet been raised.

If it doesn't happen, then we will soon be mourning yet another extinction brought about purely by our greed.
