This is the biggest lizard I can encounter in nature, out of the zoo, pet shop and any kind of terrarium, here in the area where I live ...
... and is not particularly big ...
... about 15 cm ... but the tail can be very long ... so if you include this in the measurement, all in all, this Lacerta viridis can be till 40 cm long ...
... so is really not an impressively big reptile, like some iguanas or monitor lizards ad example ... but is pretty colorful ...
and quite a beautiful one.
This is the grown-up male with lovely colors to display. This coat of many shades of green with a bit of blue and yellow reminds me of those little Australian parrots that are very common in captivity.
So this was the grown lizard.
And now ...
... let's take a look at this very different looking small reptile...
a few centimeters long if we exclude the long tail.
This is the juvenile green lizard.
And now ...
... with this closing image of a fully grown European green lizard ... it's time to end this little reptilian post ... have a good day ... or night ... wherever on the planet you are ... as always in these posts on Steemit, all the photographs are my work ... and they are made outdoors, in the forest near the sea early in the mornings, it was a complicated and painful production involving some real macro lens and a few external fleshes in low light - dense shrub forest - early morning conditions... a lot of crawling and waiting ... I made this 12 years ago when I had the patience for this kind of actions - no chance that I will even try to do something similar now.
P.S. You can click on most of the images and in doing so enlarge them noticeably :D ... if you wish, of course
