The foods in our lives contain calories. A calorie is the amount of energy required to increase the temperature of one gram of water with a Celsius degree. The content of the food is about 1,000 calories.
Foods containing quantities of energy:
"a small piece of chocolate can have more calories than a similar piece of salad."
Calories are a measure of energy, there can be different types of calories. The calorie needed for a person is calculated using mathematical equations.
Carbohydrates, fibers, fats, proteins, organic acids, polyols, and ethanol release energy during cellular respiration. The largest amount of energy, 9 and 7, respectively, have fats.
Proteins and carbohydrates are about 4 kcal per gram. All foods have specific metabolic energy. Nutrients are classified as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water, but only 3 bring body energy: 1 gram of carbohydrates = 4 calories 1 gram of protein = 4 calories 1 gram of fat = 9 calories. Absolute all foods release energy, some release more energy than others.
The calorie requirement per day of a mature man is 1,800 calories and for adult women 1,320 calories. The only factor that influences energy consumption and can be controlled by man is a physical effort. Whoever wants to increase their energy consumption needs to increase the amount of physical activity they make.
Women consume calories 16% less than men. With aging, caloric consumption decreases.
