First thing I thought of was a time loop. But as I re-read it (probably have to re-read it a couple of times), I thought maybe that perhaps the time crystals were in a state of time skips (as the matter disappears and reappears)

Is this description relevant? I really am interested in wrapping my head probably around this concept
