I can't remember the time I ever held more than 500 STEEM in my wallet. But I did today! Yesterday evening I received 535 STEEM from my friend as port of the Steem Torch Experiment initiated by
.
From her original post:
Steem Torch is an experiment to demonstrate the speed and trust in transferring value on Steem social network.
From what I've seen so far this initiative shows the social side of Steem, especially the 'trust' side of it all. When we receive the Torch we want to make sure the next one is not going to keep the money. So we make sure, via Discord or other means of communication, that the Torch will be received safely and passed along safely as well. Although our transaction times are SPEEDY, our social focus slows down this experiment immensely. In experiments there's now wrong or 'right' outcome, there's just an outcome. I think on STEEM we'll see that this experiment will take long but people are actually invested and care about who they send the Torch too. That's just who we are :-)
Since the idea came (if I remember correctly) from a 'Torch' experiment on the Bitcoin Lightning Network I would be interested in a comparison after our experiment is finished.
Steem Torch Facts
- The Torch after I have send it to
is worth 538 STEEM.
- I'm the 95th hodler of the Torch, but of course didn't actually hodl it at all
- The Torch stops with the person who received 1337 STEEM. This person can then decide what good cause to donate the STEEM to.
- You can see who hodls the Torch / is the current Steem Torch Keeper via
, who wrote about me receiving it here, and about me sending it on to @bafi here.
I chose to send it to because he is one of my newest Steem Friends who I met through the 'BT Alliance' we've formed with
for the
game. It's fun to expand your Steem Network and get to know new people from time to time, and he's definitely someone who is a sincere Steemian even though I never met him through any of the other communities I'm part of.
So good luck passing on the Steem Torch,
, thanks for trusting me with the Torch
, and most of all, thanks for keeping us busy with this experiment
!
Let the Steem Flame continue to burn in our hearts!
