Today is St George's day. He's the patron saint of England, but it's not that big a deal here. Some people may celebrate it with some sort of party and there will be church services, but it's not like St Patrick's day, that seems to be celebrated with lots of drinking around the world these days.
Google are marking the day.
Lots of places around Europe use the flag of George, including Georgia (the country named after him), Malta, Romania and Catalonia, even though he never went to most of them. He's supposed to have fought a dragon, but that's a myth that may have evolved from older stories.
I may go to a concert in our local church that is marking the day with some English music. I have to say that the day has slipped past without me noticing in previous years, but I think I did march in some parade for it when I was a cub scout. That's many decades ago.
If you do celebrate this day then have a good one.
