Hello Steemit,
after my last post some people ask me for more info on how to build a Storj node.
It's much easier than most people think. So i'll share some steps with you in order to build it.
First you have to go to Storj home page.
After you hit "Rent your drive" you download the app.
Install it and run it. At this point you'll need a couple of things. First some space in your computer. I recommend that you use a computer that can be on all the time because Storj system relies on reputation and response time, so you need a synced computer with fast internet and disk space. More on reputation and response time later.
You will also need your Ethereum wallet address. Storj is a ETH token, therefore you'll get your payments in Storj tokens, so you need a ETH wallet to store them. Finally, you'll need access to your router to redirect ports to your computer ip.
Start Storj and insert your ETH address. After that you'll be asked for a location for your space renting. Select the destination folder and move forward.
After that you can select how much space you want to rent.
On my other article i used 2 old external HDDs, but you can select less or more space.
And now comes the tricky part, port forwarding.
Now you have to open that port on your computer and redirect it on your router.
You can find more info about it on this video, it works for any app, so it will work in our case.
Before hitting next do forget to finish port forwarding or the install may get halt.
Finally you'll need your public IP. An easy way to solve that is using a free dynamic DNSprovider.
A running node should look like this.
You can also follow your node info, used space, response time and reputation using Storjdash sitefor example.
I hope you find this article useful and if you like it please upvote :)
