I first started writing this piece after watching the trailer for Hardfork (futuristic series being made by steemers), the trailer included some traditional fight scenes. It started me wondering why portray fight scenes as we know them today in a series set 12 years into the future? I say this because I think we are on the edge of a massive transformation in the same way Victorian Englamd did during the Industrial Revolution. Everything will change and do so quite quickly. So the idea of fight scene violence seemed to me a bit 'old school'
Having followed Thomas Wictor (@ThomasWictor, http://t.co/0Hu95Msd10 ) for most of this year I have had my eyes opened to a kind of future revolution happening now in the middle east. That is, the Arab nations have taken on the task of ending the conflict and violence that has plagued the region. Thomas believes the Saudi's and Gulf States financed Israeli tech and arms Companies trillions of dollars to create a range of weapons that enabled bad people to be targeted with no damge to infrastructure or innocent people. Given that the majority of actual fighting was going to be urban and city based, this was brilliant.
And so this is what we see in the closing months of 2017. Future weapons being used only where needed to eliminate people who cannot lay down their weapons. The days of zealotry in the middle east are coming to a close and it will be because of hi tech, highly targeted, extremely lethal weapons. I show and tell more about this later in this article.
But for now, the original start of my article...
When I saw the trailer for Hardfork the Series, apart from being mightily impressed with the tech and production quality I was left with one thought. It was around the concept of violence in the physical form. Recreating fight scenes is one of the most difficult and time consuming aspects of motion picture production. Certainly the trailer contained a few fight moments or at least scenes with physical violence.
I was left thinking, since you have the ability to completely re-write the rules of human interaction for 2029, why continue to show human violence as portrayed more or less as it is today? The series is saturated in tech, why not look at different tech to do similar actions, ie disable or incapicitate your opponent.
Thomas Wictor on twitter has been looking at things in the middle east for several years. He began to notice what he believes are 'future weapons'. He believes the Saudi's and Gulf States gave Israeli hi tech and arms Companies a blank cheque to deveop a suite of weapons specially designed for urban warfare. These weapons can target individuals, leaving those around the target mostly unhurt. As well these weapons have directed energy that limits damage to surrounding buildings. Wictor has many video's showing these.
As well, Wictor has several videos that show what he calls the flying black boxes of death. They appear as super fast, very tiny autonomous drones. Some provide surveillance, others swarm and some contain deadly weapons. I've seen a video of a terrorist leader, addressing a group of ten or twelve people, then as soon as he walks away a black box zooms up to him. expels some kind of aerosol, then seemingly 'implodes' in a kind of inwards and downwards directed flash of energy. Other black boxes have mini emp capabilities that render vehicles or electronics inoperative.
Soldiers resting near a wall. Weapon detonates, force of blast directed away from wall.
As smoke clears, soldiers standing close are unharmed. No lethal fragments.
Soldiers right at explosion centre walk away. No apparent bodies visible.
Let me say these are weapons, in use today in Syria. Any narative set in the future and tech based should be aware of this little known and rarely seen development. In summary, it seems as if the Saudi's and Gulf States in conjunction with their 'secret ally' Israel have created weapons that only kill the leaders or bad actors, have the ability to be directed into places that minimize surrounding damage or casualties and are semi autonomous minidrone in nature.
As soon as targeted person moves away from group, a small black box drone drops from above to near his shoulder
An aerosol is sprayed which is then ignited and causes an implosion to wrap around the target. All the forces are inward and downwards.
Leaving the people around the man untouched. The target was both crushed by the force of the implosion and smashed by the downward force as it reflected off the road and went upwards. Once again people within a metre seem unharmed.
The camera swings away so we don't get to see the target drop to the ground dead.
Combine the above tech capability with what is described as the new 'strategic operator' soldier now fielded by the Saudi's and Gulf states and you have a single person capable of acting as scout, spy, assassin, assault, airstrike and rescuer. These SO are masters in infiltration and there are some theorizing that they can effectively merge with their enemy, walk with them, identify the key players, decapitate the leadership, then via electronic warfare and airborne assets seed the enemy with fake communications that can no longer be verified by leadership causing enemy formations to act or move in a required manner.
The recent sudden and unexplained Kurdish retreat from the Iraqi city of Kirkuk (minus the assassination of leadership) was a hallmark of this approach. It's believed that fake communications were seeded throughout the Kurdish formations while legitimate communications were suppressed. Based on a combination of fake orders and infiltrated SO's spreading fake rumours of the orders legitimacy, the Kurd formations retreated out of Kirkuk just hours after their leaders had vowed to fight the Iraqi Army which had arrived to retake the city. No was killed or hurt, a major battle was avoided.
I hope the writers and researchers on Hardfork the series are able to look into these current events. Because what's actually happening now is far more interesting than watching some poorly staged fighting or acts of physical violence, that's so 2015.
