It's been quite a while since I've posted a new poem.
For this piece I decided to use a style that I first discovered on a wall in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was a poem spray painted by a local artist.
For as simple as the technique is it's very effective, ingenious really. Breaking up the lines of the poem in unusual places, creates fragments of words. This causes the reader to take their time with it and focus a little more intently.
Enough of my rambling...I hope you enjoy!
The Good That Remains
Clothed in
an infinite
number of sym
bols, is your reality
to play with,
unafraid.
Our lives are ou
r greatest art, be
st appreciated in
a constant state
of wonder.
A lucid immersion
balancing lev
ity and weight,
a comfortable distance
from the gravity of empty
distractions.
Master a soft gaze un
touched by pain.
It’s hard to loo
k away, to not see
beauty in the decay,
the wise cherish the
good that remains
of each miracul
ous day.
