Old Rimba Raya Radio (RRR) device seemed forgotten and stacked in one corner of the Museum of the Indonesian Army National Army of Yogyakarta.
Registered with No. 60,607,318 and listed a short description, "Smuggled Transmitter from Malaysia. Used by the Government of Indonesia in Sumatra / Aceh 1948. "
There is absolutely no other information about RRR in the museum. Irony and sad. In fact, RRR was once the only savior Indonesia. Rimba Raya Radio monument was finally built to commemorate the history of Radio Rimba Raya. This monument was inaugurated by the Minister of Cooperatives / Head of Logistic Affairs Agency, Bustanil Arifin on 27 October 1987 at 10.30 Western Indonesia Time. The monument is located in Kampung Rime Raya, District Pintu Rime Gayo, Bener Meriah Regency.
The condition of Rimba Raya Radio Monument is now increasingly neglected. Lots of graffiti here and there and other paint and supporting buildings are rotting with age. In fact, the top of the monument was cracked and almost collapsed because of an earthquake that rocked the area a few years ago.
The silent witness of the independence struggle of the Republic of Indonesia is now silent in the middle of Gayo forest wilderness. Of course we really hope that the Government of Aceh and the Central Government can make the location of Tugu RRR area become a historical tour with supported by adequate facilities. We also hope that the officials of this country do not miss the Tugu RRR as a valuable asset of the nation's value.
