Continuation from the last time...
Joe then asked Don what he is doing in Ghana for things are now difficult. Don told him he has come to Ghana because his uncle is sick in the hospital though he is rich he has no wife and children and now he has to depend on oxygen in the hospital that is his reason for coming back. there Don asked him what he had been up to all this years. that was when Joe alias Carpi offered his old friend Don to sit with him and he begin his story...
Joe use almost an hour narrating his sad life story to Don. Don was so sad to hear such sad story from Joe his long time friend. Carpi concluded his story by talking to him about his wooden car and his dream of his art.
"A pleasant dream, indeed," commented Don, " but why should such pleasant feelings as it aroused turn thee into a glum statue upon the wall?
"Why, indeed! Because when I awoke and remembered how empty was my purse, a feeling of rebellion swept over me. I begin to think more than I should work sometime loose all concentration on what am doing. Let us talk it over together, for, as the sailors do say, we ride in the same boat, we two. As youngsters, we went together to the priests t learn wisdom. As young men, we shared each other's pleasures. As grown men, we may eventually become close friends. We have been contented subjects of our kind. We have been satisfied to work long hours and spend our earnings freely. We have earned much coin in the years that have passed from our daily feeding fees given to us by our parents. But just look at me today I can't even provide for my little family.
"What," exclaimed Don with genuine surprise, "Thou hast not one cedi in thy purse, why not complete that wooden car? Joe responded " I have no such money!" I will help you Don said for crying out loud...
