THE unbelievable mansion of one of Australia’s wealthiest families is up for sale, and set to break a price record in Victoria.
The house at 9 Towers Road, Toorak, located southeast of Melbourne’s CBD, was the brand new home to billionaire property developer Daniel Besen and his wife Danielle. Mr Besen is also the son of Melbourne retail royalty, Eva and Marc Besen, who built the Sussan fashion chain. But Mr and Mrs Besen’s home is now up for sale without being lived in, as it is believed they have parted ways just after completing the Toorak mansion.
The contemporary, architect-designed home is described in its online listing as a “Melbourne icon”, with selling agent Marcus Chiminello of Marshall White Armadale telling news.com.au it would “without doubt” sell for more than $30 million — a Victorian sale record.“We have taken eight groups of people through (the property) and there has been some good interest,” Mr Chiminello said.
The record for Melbourne’s most expensive house sale was set earlier this year when 4 Robertson St, Toorak, sold above $24 million. Mr Chiminello was also the selling agent for Robertson St, previously owned by Melbourne business scion Tony Smorgon and wife Jennifer Smorgon. The property sold in June just shy of three weeks after it was listed.
