That morning his cousin had called him and everyone agreed to have the family come over. His cousin had been excited to have a bbq with his daughter, because she is young and and he doesn't get to see her very often.
After they all left, he went alone for a walk in the forest. It helped him clear his head and be alone for a little while. There were many visitors that day. It's nice to have visitors he thought... but sometimes he preferred the quiet.
