"Your 19-year-old son withdrew a 100 grand from your bank account and has disappeared?" Adam Brady asked suspiciously. His brother Jason, sitting beside him, also looking on in disbelief.
The two young investigators were sitting in H.G. Thomas' luxurious office overlooking the Atlantic Ocean near Miami, Florida. Thomas leaned forward in his high-backed chair obviously frustrated by the question.
"Yes!" Thomas replied. "My boy, Shaun, withdrew the money a month ago, and there has been no communication since then. The police were unable to track his phone and believe it was destroyed."
"So, you want my brother Jason, and I to track down your son?"
"I hope I am making that clear to you both! Every lead we had to start with has fizzled flat, and I am turning to this unorthodox suggestion from my wife. Her and your dad went to school together and you two seemed to have built a reputation alongside his sleuthing skills."
"We have enjoyed working on dad's cases since we were in 2nd grade, and he brings us along now that we are young men." Jason replied to Thomas. "What do you remember about the last time you and Shaun talked?"
Thomas paused as his face noticeably became downcast, "Shaun and I have not seen eye to eye these last few years. I was mentoring him in the family business and his ideas clashed with my own. The last face to face we had was not amicable and Shaun stormed out of the room declaring he would make me pay. His mother and I don't think he would steal from us and leave but we are at a loss after these arduous 30 days."
"Jason and I will do our best find your son Mr. Thomas. Is there a Facebook account, Snapchat friends, or any diary we could look through to ascertain some clues?"
"Yes, yes, we have the passwords for Shaun's accounts written down at our home along with the journal he kept. The two of you are welcome to stop by tomorrow evening at our home if you decide to take the case."
"We'll talk it over with our father tonight and send you a text in the morning." Adam replied.
"That is why my wife ask me to hire the two of you. She is convinced that you can dig up clues that the police missed since you speak Shaun's lingo. I am nearly certain of that myself."
The three men stood up and exchanged firm handshakes. Adam and Jason thanked Thomas for the opportunity and headed home to mull over the idea with their father over the evening meal.
