I will tell the story of a rice cylinder tool that is still ketingagalan era from the old Dutch still colonize aceh Indonesia but until now still used in the era of an all-round sophisticated and he still has the power of interest alone plus unique again.
Now rice can be easily found in kiosks, but the process is not many people know, but it is to be a complicated process.
If now people can easily grind rice using a grinding machine, but if before the existence of the machine, the process of rice into rice more difficult again.
One of the traditional tools in the past when in Aceh called Jingki, if other areas that I know his name is a dimple but his form is different but the same function is tetep same for rice pengersuk but also jingki used by the people of Aceh Tempo used as a pounding tool so that into a rice by the way at the tip of a man's feet standing by pressing his legs, so the jingki slightly raised and the rice that has been placed in leusong into rice.
Jeungki "Traditional Tool of Aceh that teaches us Patience and Togetherness.
Jeungki is already rarely found in the daily life of the people of Aceh, with technological developments that really fast, benyak people who leave this traditional tool Jeungki.
Jingki or jeungki is a traditional tool made of wood choice used by the people of Aceh to pound rice into rice or pound rice into flour in the era before 1985. This tool is very easy to find almost every house in the villages.
Now this tool is very rarely used and found because it has been replaced by modern tools.
There are 2 (two) types of ways of operating jeungki known by the people of Aceh, namely;
- Jeungki that is man-driven.
- Jemai Ie is driven using a waterwheel.
In this post focuses on jeungki which is man-driven.
Jeungki meets the basic requirements of a simple technological tool, in general the main component is made of wood. There are 3 main components of a jeungki namely; jeungki, pestle and mortar.
by moving the legs on the overlap point of the lever to give a harder blow. At the end of the lever is installed a skeleton consisting of 2 (two) perpendicular portions connected by timbre (timer) harizontal so that jeungki will rise and fall. At the other end of the place is a pestle alu (alee in Acehnese) to pound the dimple.
Jingki is often used in the month of Ramadan, especially near Eid, because mothers should pound rice into flour as the main ingredient of Lebaran cake. It is tired to pound rice into flour by using jingki, because in addition to his heavy equipment, the job can not be done alone.
However, behind the sense of tired pounding rice / rice with jingki, it is stored a thick social values such as togetherness and patience.
With the development of the era to modern, we must be concerned with this traditional Jeungki tool, because without any role of society / government in preserving this traditional Jeungki tool, then surely this tool will disappear from our society, we hope our concern will increase to the tool traditional tools such as Jeungki.
the difference in the same dimple jingki I mentioned earlier above.
One of the impacts of the development of science and technology is the growing number of tools that make it easy for us in many ways for various fields. Coupled with the growing and advance the field of computerization, finally not a few things that can be done and done automatically by utilizing the computer. So of course a particular job will be done easily and lighter by using the help of the machine. But did you know that before the rapid development of science and technology as we feel today, not a few things or work that is only done manually, in this case is to use the traditional all-round equipment and also only operated by conventional power , that is manpower.
For example for example is when someone wants to cultivate paddy rice into rice, hence used old mortar as a tool tumbuknya. Unlike the case with now, when someone wants to convert rice into rice, then it can be done in a very easy and a relatively short time that is by utilizing the equipment of rice velvet machine. Similarly, for example, when someone wants to refine coffee, if the old days must be pounded with conventional coffee beans first, then in today's coffee beans stay in the puree by using a coffee selep machine like that done in turning rice into rice earlier. So something like this is an example of the impact of the advancement of the times with all the development of science and technology is very worthy to be grateful.
Okay, if above I mentioned a conventional mashing tool in this case is a mortar that can be used to pound rice and turn it into rice, then now we will know a conventional pounding tool again called Alu and Lumpang. Alu here is not the Arithmetic And Logic Unit or arithmetic and logic unit as we used to know as a term in the field of computers, but Alu here is one part of conventional mashing tools which are generally made of wood with a function to pound the food is inside the mortar. While the functionality of its own mortar is as a place to eat food that will be pounded (for example: corn, cassava or cassava, and so forth). And related to mortality, it could be in everyday life you will know the term lumpangen, where this term is usually used as a term for sore thrush. Lumpangen is used as a Javanese term for sariaan illness because usually we get canker sores, then our lips will look cracked like lips like that also.
Well, now we are back on the main point, which is about mortar. In general, the mortar is made from the base of the tree trunk teak and or tree trunks are stronger and harder. Meanwhile, the mortar is divided into 2 (two) types, namely small mortars and large mortars. Small passengers are usually used for coffee pounding, while large mortars are usually used to pound corn, cassava or cassava, and / or groceries that need to be smoothed with a larger size of origin when compared to coffee. In addition large lumpang is also commonly used to pound the food with a larger amount, so the process of collision becomes faster.
And here are some examples of small and large mortar images that I portrayed from 2 (two) pieces of mortar in my house.
I have already mentioned before that the pictures shown above are some of the photographs of the photographs I portrayed from 2 (two) passengers that are still in my house. I photographed the images from different sides or shooting directions to facilitate you who have never seen it in knowing the actual form of mortars. Oh yeah, please note that the large bulk of the original was made from the base of the teak tree trunk, while the small one made of harder wood is the base of the juhar tree trunk. However, because tools like this are very rare and rarely possess, many of us may never know about them. So with this article my hope is hopefully can be used as a reference for those who have never known or seen it at all it was a dimple that is long time ago that is not in use anymore .. because my grandmother was gone again in karenakan already died. hopefully useful from my story this for friends in steemian thank you.
