I said in a quiet tone, "I have done my chores for the day and it is time for me to go before the storm hits." The manager on duty quickly agreed to let me leave. In a surprisingly small amount of time I gathered my stuff to go as I felt a sense of urgency. Looking up to the darkening sky feeling the chill of the air I rushed to my bicycle behind the gate. Strolling not half way down the first road home I saw a speeding wave of wind and rain rushing towards me. It was like a wall hurling towards me faster than I could even finish saying "Woah!" Before I knew it, all my forward momentum suddenly stopped with the first gust of wind from the storm front. The rain drops were like pennies falling from the sky, pelting my now tense muscles as I pushed through the never ending breeze. Using all my might to pedal forward I was hardly moving at all while the cars rushed right by me spraying me with quick spurts of mist every few seconds.
After the first 2 minutes of relentless winds the resistance started to slow and I could move up to the next gear on my red "free spirit" vintage bicycle. I made it about a mile and a half with just a light raining before it started to pour out like buckets of water dumped right on top of me, my body feeling so heavy, and not an inch of it dry. All I could do is look down to keep the sleet like rain out of my eyes and watch the tires cut through the puddles spitting up a constant race of rain beads spinning up into my chest. I was almost home..
Finally home after a 30 minute struggle with nature I was sore and tired. Stripping all my wet clothes off and putting new on I thought this was something worth sharing,
"Every day is an adventure, you never know how you might be put to test, today I passed!"
