Tunde and Veronica had known each other for two years now. They were in a relationship, and everything seemed to be moving just fine. Veronica loved Tunde with all her heart, she thought they were gonna get married until everything changed.
"I am pregnant" Veronica said to Tunde. This was news many men hoped to hear from their partners/girl, but not Tunde. He was the player type. What!! Tunde yelled. I’m not ready to be a father yet. So what now? Vera asked in annoyance. She was furious. Tunde suggested that she should abort the baby, he would tend the medical bills. Vera was shocked at what he said. She refused, saying that Tunde must take care of she and her unborn baby. Tunde then said to her " I have tried my best to help you but you won't listen. Don't disturb me about any baby".
Veronica's parents later realised that their daughter was pregnant. They demanded that she took them to the house of the person responsible. Obviously, this was after beating and cursing at her. She said Tunde was responsible. On meeting Tunde's family, She was denied and further humiliated. Tunde spoke openly that she was among the class of girls that usually sleeps around and now wants to pin her pregnancy on him. Veronica was so shamed. She had tarnished her family image. She begged Tunde to accept responsibility and say the truth. But he further denied, saying he could call like ten guys that she has slept with, but he would not because he took pity on her. Veronica's eye was filled with tears, then she cursed at Tunde that he would definitely live to regret the decisions he has taken.
Veronica's father was furious, saying that she has shamed him and the entire family. He kicked her out of his house, saying she should go look for the father of the child. His wife pleaded with him to reconsider his decision. But he did not listen to her. Veronica lived her pregnancy days on the streets as she had no one who would accommodate her. As her pregnancy advanced, and with no roof to shelter her, she had miscarriage. It seemed that all the stress was for nothing, that she could have aborted the baby earlier and still have a normal life. But that was not Veronica. She could not live with the guilt of murdering an innocent child because of her mistakes.
Veronica started life again from scratch. She found work and worked as a nanny and housemaid. She managed to gather enough money to further her studies. The money she got after lots of time spent working was enough to see her through medical school. Many years had passed since her pregnancy and schooling. Veronica was now a consultant doctor in a reputable hospital. One certain day,Her office phone rang. She was needed in the operating room. A patient was critically wounded and brought into the hospital. her expertise was required. On stepping into the operating room, she discovered that the patient was Tunde. It's been long since her pregnancy incident. Seeing him brought flash back of memories. At that moment, she was the only one who could save this young man's life. She then began thinking. Should I save his live or allow him to die?
