We're seeing a divide throughout our lives in almost every subject we can talk about. Someone is now more easily offended about ever subject matter because we are pitted against each other in ever walk of life. Instead of facing facts or allowed to have a true conversation with someone, we will either get offended or angry. As a simple example, I see this divide in conquer in our sports industry any time you walk into a bar during a playoff game for the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL - Pretty much where ever there is competition, there will be conflict.
Simply putting on a jersey or representing the team you prefer will put you at odds with someone because they support the other team or is wearing a different jersey. Take that jersey off and take away the sports and we will probably have the same individuals having a great conversation and sharing a laugh. We're challenged, more than ever, because of the onslaught of differences we are exposed to through sports, religion, clothing, parenting, etc. The list can go on and on.
Pepsi or Coke
Red or Blue
Cigarettes or Marijuana
Xbox or Playstation
The world is so connected and news is at our fingertips any time. More than ever, people want to have their voice heard and are more blunt when writing a comment or sharing their views online. Take the internet away, those same people won't be as freely speaking their mind or be as aggressive with the tone used.
Simply put, we face challenging times and we as individuals need to do our best each day to remain true as human beings. Help one another, learn from each other. Only together can great things happen and there are many amazing people out there making it happen.
I for one, need to do a better job at having more patience. Either while driving, waiting at the DMV or listening to an opposite view, I will be better. I will do my part to drive home positivity and love.
What can you do a better job at today and the days ahead?
