That afternoon, during break hour, the boys were behind the class playing a quick game of football when Biodun, the best dribbler handled the ball. He was challenged by Caleb, he dribbled the burly boy to the cheers of others.
That got to Caleb and he felt stupid. He went again for the ball, trying to tackle Biodun violently, but the skillful player dribbled him again and put the ball through his legs.
The boys screamed in excitement, clapping, cheering and laughing. Caleb noticed that the other boys were standing on the field, not moving but had become spectators.
He mustered enough rage and charged towards Biodun, if he played rough and probably injured Biodun, his humiliation would abate.
Biodun was obviously enjoying the fact that he was showing his skills. He loved his showmanship, especially when he was receiving applause and accolades. He saw Caleb coming and he waited for him, alert.
As Caleb threw his leg, Biodun cut the ball away with the edge of his foot, causing Caleb to lose balance. Caleb crashed to the ground and louder laughter rented the air. He turned his head and saw Biodun laughing too. That infuriated him.
