Thirty years ago, in 1988, my brothers and myself, we installed a swimming pool at the Abbey, our family house.
Here are some of my nieces and nephews enjoying themselves in the swimming pool in 2005:
And another picture with my late mother outside the swimming pool and my brother Philippe and my sister in law Jeanne-Marie inside.
This swimming pool was made with a section of slurry tank, that my brother Benoit, the farmer, bought and had it delivered at the Abbey. The height is 1.20 m and the diameter 6 m. It is constituted by 7 segments that are connected to each other with 44 nuts and bolts.
A specially made strong tarpaulin was put on top.
This swimming pool had been used every summer for more than 20 years, but not recently.
The main reason is that not many people come to sojourn at the Abbey, these days.
So, the swimming pool has deteriorated and it was time to remove it.
With my brother Philippe, who lives permanently at the Abbey, we started by unscrewing manually the 308 (7 x 44) nuts and bolts, in two days. This took us around 5 hours in total.
After the removing of two segments:
All the segment are gone. Only the tarpaulin is still there.
Then, I cut the tarpaulin in pieces not to heavy and got rid of them at the waste collection yard.
It looks like a UFO removed our swimming pool during the night!
