Quack is grumpy today.
To be fair, Quack was grumpy every day.
You probably would be too if your name was "Quack." Sure, he's a duck, but his parents could have been a little more imaginative. All day, every day he gets teased because of his name. All the other ducks have names like "Theodore" and "Malinda." All Quack wants is to be accepted and to fit in.
Right, but I said that Quack is upset today. That's actually another irritant that's been poking at him. Well, nibbling to be precise. You see, Quack spends most of his time in a local pond and the fish there have taken to biting at his feet. They don't really have teeth so can't do any damage, but Quack just wants to have a nice, peaceful day at the pond and he continues to be harassed.
That all started two weeks ago and although he complained about it for a week, he didn't really do anything about it. Then, finally he snapped! Now look at him. Ol' Quack is zooming around and trying to suffocate the fish by dropping leaves on them. I asked him his plan and he muttered something about collecting all the leaves and dropping them in the pond. If they float, they fish won't have sun and will die of depression. If the leaves sink, then he'll keep dumping leaves until the pond is full of leaves and the fish don't have water in which to swim.
I'm worried about him! He's always been a bit given to depression, but this seems different. Do you have any ideas for how to help him?
You don't care? You're leaving? What about Quack?!!
Bah, I'll have to think of something on my own. Poor, sad, tortured duck. I wish I knew how to help you.
Oh, and now it's raining! Just great! Quack isn't going to take this well. It will NOT be "water off a duck's back." I can't imagine what he'll do next.
Hey, buddy, stay out of Quack's way!
In fact, I'm out of here.
