I love traveling up north during the fall months not only because of the burnt oranges and warming reds, but the hustle and bustle of people enjoying the beauty of such an amazing colonial city.
The whole city is of Swiss origin, New Bern, being named after the city in Switzerland, has a culture club and a city seal that is inspired by the seal of Bern. As I walked through the streets of New Bern, I felt as if I was in a truly colonial city, the brick buildings standing tall against the horizon, as if they had been there since the beginning of time.
The city has been going through major renovations while also trying to preserve the older churches and monuments that are critical parts of New Bern's history. A true mark on New Bern's history is the invention of Brad's Drink or as it's commonly known, Pepsi, and in the town you can visit the exact spot he made the drink!
