I never knew what real poverty was until I spent time living in Africa over the summer. Even though the people I met did not have money or a lot of material possessions, they were very welcoming and filled with love.
The short month I spent living in the villages with them, I got more from them than the work we were doing for them. As we were building water lines into their village and doing medical work in their clinics, I knew the work we were doing was going to have a lasting impact in their community, but I had no idea that my life and soul would be changed forever from those people. They gave me a new outlook on life and I cannot wait to be back among them.
