Shinjuku-gyoen is a park located between the special areas of Shinjuku and Shibuya. It covers an area of 58.3 hectares. During the Edo period, the shogun granted these lands to the daimyo Naito Tsuruga, who completed the construction of the garden in this place in 1772.
In 1906, it became a garden under the control of the Imperial Court of Japan. In our time it is familiar to many people.
In this garden are mixed three different styles: French regular and English landscape in the north and Japanese classical in the south. In the French garden grow plane trees, and in English - tulip trees.
The best time to visit the park is certainly spring, as in this period many plants start to bloom. But I somehow do not get there in the spring in the main summer or autumn.
In Shinjuku-gyoen more than 100 000 trees. There are many trees that you will not find in an ordinary Japanese garden: a tulip tree, a platanum, etc.
In spring plums, white magnolias and cherry blossoms stand in full bloom. In summer, among the luxurious greenery, hydrangeas, gardenias and myrtle are blossoming. Autumn blossom Nile lilies, lespesida, olive trees, chrysanthemums.
Аnd if you suddenly stop in the Shinjuku area, then the Shinjuku gyoen park is the perfect place to relax from the dense high-rise buildings and the large number of people that are always present in this area of Tokyo.
