I took this one 2 years ago on my first trip to LA. It's my favourite piece of street art since it's like a continuation of the ocean.. and the best kind of street art transports you, briefly, anywhere other than the streets imo. Fascinatingly, this mural was painted in 1990 by Emily Winters and has a Floyd-esque essence to it while its title gives it a beautifully sombre feel. I don't know you, Emily, but your choice of subject is even more relevant now than it was then.
Venice reminds me a lot of London's Camden, where I resided for 4 years. But, unlike anywhere in Camden, if you turn just 90° to your right from my viewpoint in this pic, you'll be facing a captivating sea-front and those cinematic palm trees which have been the muse of many an Instagram post.. mine included. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking out Abbot Kinney Boulevard - a treasure trove of intriguing boutiques, art and food, before heading to the super lavish and gorgeous Venice Canals a couple of hours before sunset.
