This is my entry for Friday's Daily Photo Challenges sponsored by
Theme: #streetphotography.
Australia has some incredibly beautiful beaches and I have visited quite a few and although I had heard of Glenelg Beach, I wasn't quite prepared for the wow factor of this lovely place when I went there in December last year. We arrived by tram from the centre of Adelaide, enjoying the wonderful scenery of parks, gardens and beautiful houses along the way. It happened to be a Sunday so there were people everywhere, which added to the exciting atmosphere. I took a heap of photos which will come in handy for other themes at a later date, but for this one, on street photography I want to show you what was happening at the end of the street, just south of the pier.
The temperature was a sweltering 40 degrees Celsius so if you weren't bathing at the beach, sailing or jet skiing in the ocean, or having a picnic under the shade of large trees, playing beneath these water jets spurting out from the ground was the next best way to cool down.
Two seagulls patiently waited their turn.
Parents watched as their children cooled down, amidst squeals of excited laughter.
And one Dad simply wasn't prepared to be a by-stander any longer. So he joined in the fun.
And soon other Dad's were getting soaked and not minding it one little bit. Glenelg (spelt the same backwards,) has an enviable Mediterranean type climate with warm, dry summers and cool, mild winters so if you're planning a trip to Adelaide, any time of the year will do.
