Today I learned about Stubbs the cat, the mayor of the town of Talkeetna in Alaska, which has 876 inhabitants. Stubbs has been mayor for almost 20 years - from 1997 to the present.
Stubbs is part of a line of animals that serve as mayors in the US: In the city of Ravitt in Kentucky since 1998 all city mayors were dogs and in the town of Texas, three city heads were goats.
