Teams participating in the 2018 World Cup are beginning to head home. Teams like the USA never qualified to make the trip. Thousands of other soccer ‘kids’ never tasted their boyhood dreams of playing professional soccer. So who failed?
Perhaps everyone?
I spent thousands of hours watching little 8 yr old boys learn to play. Only one of those boys ever played a few minutes of professional soccer. Every other child eventually failed to proceed. Zachary ( the boy who made Pro ) failed to make a second season.
Everyone fails. Yes... even that guy who seems to have it all. Success is an illusion. Anyone who tells you differently is selling something.
As a coach of youth soccer, I tried to teach pre-teens that “an assist is better than a GOAL”. Thinking about the success of others is the point of it all. Most of the time helping others also results in futility.
Steemit is a gifting community. Most people are like young boys who fail to realize they exist to assist. Give what you can to encourage others. Reward those who try each day to help the community grow.
When you fail to take one more step on this bumpy road, perhaps you will find strength in the stories told by another. The best we can do is try.
