Hey there!
I did it!!! Yay!!
I went a whole month of no sugar!!!
Now don’t get me wrong, I had some cheat moments, which I will use as a reason to help out some more cats in the area by donating money/gas money to someone who helps round up strays and gets them fixed up and adopted.
Four times I cheated on the diet, which I don’t think is too bad. And none were huge cheats anyway. I stayed off granulated sugar almost entirely, and gave in to some maple syrup and honey a couple of times, enough that I feel like it was noticed by my body as “WARNING: INCOMING SUGAR!!”
I’m having my first cup of sweetened tea right now, it’s delicious! I made nettle leaf with honey 💕
Drinking unsweetened tea has given me a much better appreciation for the flavours we enjoy every day. My palate is much more sensitive than before, the sweetness of an apple for example, just continued to get more intense as the month went on. It was really cool!
Today is January 1st of 2022 and I’ll be making my first juice today! Probably with celery and maybe some apple 🙂
I’ll post about it and update every now and then to show you what flavours I’ve been enjoying, and how it’s making me feel as I go.
While December was a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions for a few personal reasons, it was also a month of creating new strengths where there was mostly weakness before.
My friend, who took on this challenge with me, also says it helped them create great strength within. It makes you feel like you really do have control over things, which of course we absolutely do!
There is power in everything, and we make choices every day that are OURS to make, such as who belongs in our lives and what goes into our bodies 💕
We have to be very thoughtful and think critically when it comes to this. What might be ok or right for some, is NOT for others. To each their own path. Division is always expected, our differences can easily tear us apart, all you can do is just try and love them anyway.
If violence begets violence and hate begets hate, can’t loving someone just make more love?
I would hope so.
This challenge made me look at more than my diet, more than just sugar, more than just changes to my health. I noticed my perspective and attitude could use a good sweep through as well. 🧹
I’m very far from being a perfect person.
I say mean things. I lose my shit. I sometimes make what some would call poor decisions. I walk away from things easily in messy ways, and stick by some who maybe I shouldn’t.
I’m too loud, too opinionated, too MUCH sometimes.
But I’m also finally learning who I truly am, finding out what it means to just be myself and slowly I’m allowing myself to accept, love and appreciate that person for the first time.
It’s not as easy as you might think.
I hope someone got some inspiration from these posts, I know I created plenty for my own self!
Obviously my following is tiny, but even if only one person made some changes because of this, it would mean TONS. 💕
Take care!!
And thanks so much for all the comments, encouragement and upvotes everyone!!
