As I wrote in my previous post, we can't always get what we want as our resources are usually limited. Of course, almost everything could be bigger, nicer, cooler, sexier, or fancier. However, when the reality comes in, everything has to be weighted while searching for the optimal choice.
We had several criteria for our summerhouse.
- Bathroom/sauna and toilet inside the summerhouse
- Enough space for several beds
- Kitchen with critical domestic appliances
- Fireplace
What comes to the secondary criteria, well, that wasn't easy. We had to consider all the options and choose the best for us. What's best for us? What's best for other users of the cottage? Compromises, compromises...
And, we chose the following:
- Log summerhouse
- Water from own drilled well
- Second floor for sleeping space
- Heat-storing fireplace
We also chose the floor plan to be very reasonable and the house model to be as simple as possible. The model determines the price the most because the log is just quite expensive. If you have a lot of corners, huge and complicated terraces, or complicated balconies, the price jumps. So, simple and functional solutions are the best.
Let me show you examples of a summerhouse that we ordered:
And this would be the floor plan of the first floor:
Pictures are from here: https://www.kontio.com/fi-FI/mallisto/hongisto/. There is also more pictures, details and other floor plan options.
We still haven't chosen the colors of our summerhouse, so, we'll see how our summerhouse will look like in the end. Probably awesome in any case, right? At least those pictures are promising. :)
