last November we made an impromptu side trip while driving to visit a friend farther south along the coast. the stop was at Steinvika which is a part of Gea Norvegica UNESCO Global Geopark.
though it is not far from the center of the small city of Langesund in Norway it is a nature reserve with very interesting fossils and other geological features. the tiny shingle beach is popular in the summer but local residents frequent the place year round. it had been cloudy for weeks but the sun came out as we were driving so we decided to make the side trip. and were glad we did.
we were not expecting to stop so i didn't have my Lumix with me so i took these with my CAT S41 cell phone. i was looking straight into the sun so i couldn't see the phone screen. and because i was taking directly into the sun the phone had a lag time from when you push the "button" and when it actually took the shot so timing the splashes didn't work so well. as it turned out i was pleasantly surprised with the results after some minor editing. in my very first post in ecency i used one photo from this series. while similar, that shot is not included here.
