It has been a long time since I made a Charcoal Drawing. Then I saw 's contest, Portrait Drawing Contest. And since I bought a new sketchpad and have been wanting to draw some sketches, I have decided to join the contest. So my today's post is an entry to his contest.
So I chose to draw my cousin, Jolla.
I already mentioned Jolla on one of my posts. She is my Mom's niece. My parents adopted her when her father died when she was 1 year old. And she's 11 years old now. She was like a sister to me.
I have been wanting to draw her ever since I started Steemit. But I was lack confidence and art materials. And it has been a long time since I tried doing a charcoal drawing. But now I have decided to do it. Maybe I've gain some self-confidence. :)
MY ARTWORK
Let me show you guys the process of my artwork. I won't elaborate too much details about the process but I will show you guys each step of the process.
MATERIALS:
Sketchpad
2B 6B 8B
Ruler
Brush
Charcoal Pencil
Eraser Pencil
White Gelpen
PROCESS
- I drew the gridlines and the outline.
- Next is her eyes using charcoal pencil then brush it to blend. Then white gelpen for highlights.
- Her eyebrows. I used the 8B pencil then brush it to blend.
- Her nose.
- Her lips. I used 8B pencil. Then 6B on her upper lip, then I used brush to blend. Same on her lower lips.
- Hair. I used first the 8B for the lighter part of her hair. Then charcoal pencil for the darker parts. After that, I brushed it to blend.
- Her face. I used 6B and brush in her face. I sketch the pencil in a light and circular motion then brush it also in circular motion to blend.
- I did the same process on this side of her hair as I did on the other one.
- This is the final output of her hair. I added some strands of hair using 2B.
- Her shirt. I did the same process as I did on her face.
- Same in her hand.
Annddd that's it! I added some finishing touches and my artwork is done.
Here are some photos of my artwork. I took some pictures in different angles.
And this is a photo of me doing my artwork. took this photo of me. :)
